Missionaries in Far off Field

That was when I ruled the world.

There would be no suffering, there would be equality, and each person would live by the golden rule. If I ruled the world, even for one day, no one would suffer Today ‘ hui, there are people in the world who do not have the basic necessities like a place to sleep. I firmly believe that you don’t even have to rule the world to change it. A little difference can mean a lot more than you might think. An example of this is my friends and I sacrifice our school breaks to make milk bag mat beds; we cut the bags of milk and tie them in yarn and hook them into a large rug, which is then given to the people of Haiti who have nowhere to sleep. If I ruled the world the changes would be drastic. There would be equality for each person. No one would be treated differently for their race, religion or gender; everyone would look past other people’s differences and accept people for who they are, not someone they try to be. I firmly believe that the only way to make this realistic is through education. The education of the population is very important to me. Without education we will never learn from our mistakes and will have to repeat them.

The last and most vital thing I would do if I were to rule the world is the way everyone after the words “do to others like me.” it did you “live what is also known as the golden rule. With this rule there would be fairness and equality for every single person in the world.

So you see, you don’t have to govern to change it, just make small changes like I did. Each and every one of us has the potential to make small changes in influencing others more than you can ever imagine. In the end, remember this and live your life according to the famous words of Mahatma Gandhi: “Be the change you want to see in the world. ” Catherine Butts is based in Fergus and has been a Royal Canadian Air Cadet for two years.
